This course is suitable for those who have some experience working in disability or aged care sector. If you want to take the next step in your career in the disability sector, this course will build on what you already know and prepare you to work in roles where you lead others and assist clients in managing their services. You will empower people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision.

    Important Information

If you have successfully completed the previous CHC33015 course, you may qualify for a credit transfer for certain units. However, to transition smoothly from the superseded units to the new CHC43121 course, you will need to undergo some additional gap training. Our team of qualified professionals will be happy to assist you in determining your eligibility for this credit transfer. Feel free to speak our team to discuss your suitability.

    Gap training fee: $150

This course stipulates satisfactory completion of 120 hours of supervised work placement with registered providers. During this placement, students will be required to complete a Work Placement Record issued by Auctus.

We work with multiple industry partners and employers in the aged and disability sector who welcome our students for placements. We are proud that many of our students gain employment offers at the end of their placement. However, we do not guarantee a placement as organising work placement is a mutual effort between the student and Auctus. Furthermore, we will not recommend a student to an employer if they have not met the course and attendance requirements.

As a pre-requisite for work placement in the aged and/or disability sectors, employers require you to:

    • Obtain DCSI clearances which include Working with Children's Check, NDIS clearance and aged care sector clearance
    • Complete first aid & manual handling courses
    • Complete online modules such as NDIS workers orientation module, infection control etc.
    • Have a full South Australian drivers license and own a reliable car

Most employers also have vaccination requirements such as flu or COVID-19.

Auctus Placement Coordinator will assist you through the process and provide you with essential information.

    Note:

    1. Your Availability for Placements: Students are expected to meet employers' rostering requirements and attend shifts as rostered.
    2. Organising Placements: All placements must be approved by Auctus Placement Coordinator prior to commencement. A placement agreement will be signed by Auctus, the employer and students. Where a placement agreement has been executed, students are expected to uphold the agreement unless there are extenuating circumstances. In those situations, evidence of the extenuating circumstances will be sought from the student. If a student fails to start the placement as scheduled, and the Coordinator has to reorganise the placement, students may be charged a $500 fee.

If your training is subsidised, the South Australian Government pays part of your course fees for you. The money goes straight to your training provider, so you can focus on your training. You will be required to pay only the co-contribution.

You may be eligible for subsidised training if you live or work in South Australia, and you are:

    • an Australian or New Zealand citizen
    • a permanent Australian resident, or
    • an eligible visa holder

Yes, employment status does not impact your eligibility to access government subsidised training.

No, you do not need to hold a concession card.

Every learner studying in a nationally recognised training organisation must meet the criteria which includes completing the Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment as part of the requirements to access Government subsidised funding for each course they enrol in. Subsidised funding cannot be accessed without the completion of the LLN test.
